This was a very tired retail strip mall set far back from view, with high vacancy rates, and lacking any kind of presence to the street. I chose to create a marquee that would rise over the building similar to the way in which the marquee of a movie theater advertises its showings. The curvilinear facade takes its cues from 1930s Modern and is readily visible over the parking lot. A covered arbor protects the west-facing glass from glare and enables a pedestrian experience along the store fronts.
