This tiny building takes advantage of the State of California rules for ADUs enacted in 2020 that permit a one-story building with reduced setbacks. The building is multifunctional, with a large surface slider that allows the bedroom to be separate or a part of the living area. A loft creates additional sleeping space. The building opens at ground level to the south into the primary yard, allowing direct access to the outdoors. The building is heated with an electric heat pump, has an on-demand water heater, a concrete slab on grade, spray foam insulation, and uses very high efficiency windows and doors. The building may eventually be used for aging parents.
